Diagnosis: RGU and MCU(retrograde and antegradeurethrogram) are imaging techniques that can help to pinpoint the length, position, and severity of the stricture.

Short strictures: dilation or cutting the stricture with a laser or knife using a specially designed video cystoscope (urethrotomy). Long / recurrent strictures: surgically removing the stricture and then reconstructing the area with grafts (buccal /lingual mucosal urethroplasty) or end to end anastomotic urethroplasty (see Images).

Hypospadias

Hypospadias is a inborn disorder of the urethra where the urinary opening is at the underside of the penis instead of at the tip. It is the second-most common birth abnormality of the male reproductive system, affecting about one of every 250 males at birth.

What are the sign and symptoms of hypospadias?

Signs and symptoms of hypospadias may consist of:

  • Opening of the urethra at underside of the penis
  • Downward curve of the penis (chordee)
  • Hooded appearance of the penis
  • Abnormal spraying during urination

Treatment: Surgery usually restores the normal look of your child's penis. With successful treatment of hypospadias, most males can have normal urination and reproduction. The surgery depends on the location of the opening and condition of the urethral plate (see image)
